Let's talk about love. More specifically: doing what you love.
Lately I have been off helping out with family wherever I am needed, so I haven't been able to put my full attention on the blog.
But the Breakthrough Fashion Blogger of the Year contest has lifted me out of my rut and given me the motivation to put together one of my favorite looks yet and write again.
This contest has me all excited, so I thought I'd write a little about it to let you know what all it entails! The contest has been put together by BlogLovin' and H&M (one of my fav stores, especially after this recent shopping spree). Five bloggers are nominated for breakthrough blogger of the year and are flown to New York City for a couple different events, one including the BlogLovin' awards in September (which just so happens to fall in the same week as my 21st birthday!!!), so I am very very excited about this opportunity.
And, as I know I should hold back from disappointment of the large possibility of not being nominated, I just can't help but feel grateful to even have a chance to try for this.
Back to my original point of the writing portion of this post...
I spoke a little on Instagram about how it can be easy to fall into a place where you don't really want to work on your blog. And that's okay. Sometimes we all need a little break to refocus what's important and come back to this love of blogging.
I think it's like that with anything you do, whether you're a blogger, artist, writer, and pretty much any profession. We can all get overwhelmed in what we do or just need to take a step back and remember why we are doing what we're doing. And if you find that you don't like what you're doing, then what are you doing?!
(wow, lots of "doing")
Go out and find your passion. Do something you LOVE. Something that makes you wake up smiling. Something that you can't take your mind off because it's what you feel you're meant to be doing.
As a 20-something, I can relate with how difficult it is to not have any idea what I'm doing, all the while everyone is pressuring me to figure it out because time is running out.
But is it, really?
No. It's all a matter of perspective.
Yes, we don't know how long we have on this earth.
But at the same time, we have our entire lives ahead of us.
Something that is not said enough is "you have plenty of time to figure it out."
So don't allow the pressure of this world to push you into making rash decisions of the most important thing you could decide on:
the rest of your life.
One thing I wish more people told me a year or two ago is to take as long as I need and in the meantime just do something I love, and that will lead me to where I'm supposed to be.
Right now, I am doing just that. Blogging is one of the best paths I have chosen to take.
And even if I am not chosen as a nominee for the award, I can be at peace, knowing that I tried (and made a pretty cute look out of it, if I do say so myself).
Moral of the story is: let's get out there and start doing what we love.
It's not about the money, fame, or success. It's about your passion. It's about following the path uniquely designed for you.
