summer vacay style

by - June 21, 2017

It has rained literally every day here in Florida for at least the past month. Summer time has arrived!
Definitely not all sunshine as many think. Once the gloomy weather hits, I wind up feeling sluggish and pretty down in the dumps the rest of the day. Anyone else this affected by the weather? It's tough to push through it, but after a hot cup of tea, sitting in God's word for a little while, and opening up that laptop, it's time to get to work! But it is okay to take a day off every now and then when feeling this way to give yourself a rainy movie/book day just to relax and take it easy.

For those traveling to Florida for vacation: the morning is the ideal time to hit the beach. This is the best chance to have some sunny weather before the afternoon showers start, usually around 4pm.

If you do get caught in the rain or the storm clouds right before though, here's some style inspiration to still make the most of your day!

romper
- This is the absolute best piece of clothing to bring to Florida or any vacay destination for that matter. It's perfect for warm weather, versatile so you can wear it in lots of different outfits, comfortable, and easy to pack. I snagged this one for a really great price and have already worn it on repeat! It's low cut, perfect for layering underneath with swimsuits, cami's, or bralettes.

- For this particular day, I opted for a simple black swim top that ties around the neck. Literally any kind of swimsuit can go underneath this romper and add some extra detail to the look.

- If you're not native to Florida, please please please (I am begging you) don't wear tennis shoes everywhere. To fit in and keep your feet from feeling like they're on fire, pick up a pair of flip flops. They're easy to slide on and off, perfect for the beach, and just a much better option for this state. But I do have to say, if you're a tennis shoe lover by heart, it's okay to bring a pair along in case you want to keep your feet from getting wet in the afternoon rain.

sunnies
- Another Florida staple. You absolutely need your sunglasses to protect your eyes in the sunny morning weather. Even the overcast skies later in the day can produce harmful rays that only your sunglasses can protect against. When going to the beach, make sure to bring along a cheap pair of sunnies, because chances are if you wear the nice ones that never leave your side, they will soon be lost in the ocean current. Save the nice pair of sunnies for a day out shopping or exploring instead!

braid
- It's almost impossible to leave your hair down when it's this hot and humid out. The long hair just acts like a blanket in this heat. So do yourself a huge favor and pull your hair into a simple braid. Not only will it last all day, but it's a chic, easy to do hairstyle. A bun or a ponytail might fall as the day goes on, but a braid never fails!

I hope these tips help as you prep for your upcoming summer trip!
