Halloween is here and many of us still might not know what to wear tonight. Fear not, I have you covered with 5 different fashion icons that you can pull right out of your closet in no time with some classic wardrobe essentials!

1 - Audrey Hepburn aka Holly Golightly

This could quite possible be one of the easiest costumes to pull out of your closet. All you'll need is a simple sleeveless black midi dress, black pumps, and stacks of pearl necklaces. And if you happen to have some black elbow length gloves lying around, throw those on to complete this timeless look!

2 - Brigitte Bardot

This is probably one of my favorite looks of the collection, just because it's so classy and close to my style. Brigitte Bardot also had a timeless beauty about her. To recreate her signature look, just tease your hair to the sky and pin it half way up. Then pair a button up white blouse - something every girl should have in their closet - with a skirt, it can even just be a simple black skirt if you don't have a patterned one like mine and again a black pair of pumps. If you have a polka dot tie or scarf, that also completes the look even better!

3 - Coco Chanel

Another simple look but also a major classic, Coco Chanel! Literally all you need is a black long sleeve dress, black pumps, stack of pearls, red lipstick, and maybe a black hat to round out the look. Coco was the epitome of fashion and still lives on in classic style. No matter how far we may stray from the classics, there will always be a soft spot in each of our hearts for the little black dress.

4 - Marilyn Monroe

Really, who could make a list of fashion icons and not include Marilyn? This is super simple, so simple that I can pretty much almost guarantee that you have everything you'll need for this tucked away in your closet somewhere. All you need is a white dress, white open toed heels, and red lipstick. Seriously, that's it! If you're like me and have long hair, just curl it and pull it up into a side bun, and you're set.

5 - Twiggy

Ah, Twiggy. Some of y'all might know her, some might not. It all depends what age group you're in and/or if you're into fashion. If by some chance you've never heard of her, Twiggy was a fashion model with such a staple, iconic look. For this costume, you'll need to spend some time perfecting her signature bottom eye lashes, which some think she drew on and others think she used false lashes. I didn't have a lot of time for this shoot - literally changed in the car for each look - so my replica isn't the best. Twiggy had short hair, so just pull yours back into a bun like I did. Throw on a pink high neck dress, white '60s boots, a pair of chunky earrings - bonus points if you can find disco ball earrings - and maybe a leather jacket too if it's cold out like it was during this shoot!

There ya have it! Five iconic fashion looks that you can pull straight from your closet tonight and wow everyone at the party. It doesn't take much to be creative, just some photo inspiration, a look at your wardrobe, and trust me when I say you'll have your costume together in no time.

I hope you have a good and safe night out there and would love to see photos if you decide to use one of these costume ideas! While there is so much out there to fear, remember this as a time of fun, while staying cautious as well. We're told time and time again not to fear. So let's put our fears aside and live like the fashionistas we are!

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

Yeah, you're probably thinking "another pumpkin patch post?!"....but to be fair I did mention in the last post that I've visited a pumpkin patch twice this month already, so here's the photos from that trip! As you can see, it was a bit dark out by the time I got there. I wasn't too sure how the photos would turn out, but with some editing I actually am quite fond of them, especially that little bit of grain that just spells fall.

Burgundy is probably my all time favorite color to wear during fall, although dark green is recently coming in as a close second. But I will always love anything in the pink family, so burgundy still remains at the top. I find it fun to play with the color scheme of an outfit, matching colors in different ways through accessories and makeup. If you ever throw on a piece of clothing that has a distinct shade, try matching your lipstick to it and watch the magic happen!

We're having our first major cool spell here in Florida, and I am both loving and slightly disliking it. On the one hand, I am always looking forward to cooler weather, mostly because I just love wearing long sleeves and jackets. On the other, I get cold so easily, even just being inside with the air conditioning on.

The season also affects my mood in different ways. If I'm being completely open here, I have fewer good days than bad. Most days I just can't get out of my head. I feel anxious, sad, weighed down, and not really myself. But on the good days, I feel lighthearted, easy to communicate with others, laughable, kind. Even though the bad often outweighs the good, I am all the more thankful for the good days because of this.

Yesterday was a good day. It was like God lifted my burdens and took them as His own. I just felt lighter. But today has been rather heavy. I don't get to choose...or maybe I do.

Writing this, I am coming to the realization in this very moment that what I carry is all up to me. I can choose to hold the weight, the anxiety, the fear of not being good enough...all of it all by myself, just as I have today without even knowing it other than back in my subconscious. Or, I can choose to take that weight, all of the things that have left me feeling defeated, and lay it in God's hands to hold.

I don't know why I tend to try to do it on my own, more so than giving it up to God. It might just be human instinct, or I might just be more stubborn than my own good. It takes a conscious reminder, just as I am doing now, to give it to God otherwise I'll continue to walk around with a veil of despair sheltering me from the outside, keeping me from being a light to others. For how can I be a light, when I feel as though the light inside of me has grown so dim?

Today I choose not to go it alone. Not to bear the weight any longer, but to give it to God to carry. He's much stronger than I am, and He has already given everything He held dear just to take up my burden. So why do I continue to attempt to drag it along with me? Something about it just feels incredibly silly now, thinking of how I have been carrying this with me when He's up there gently nudging me that I don't have to hold onto it any longer. Like in New York, as I carried the heavy bags with me through the city, just wishing that I could let it go and be free to walk without the weight resting upon my shoulders.

It's a new day, a new chance to really be free in my walk with God and set those weights aside. I hope you choose also not to do life on your own today. Here's to a season, although often dark and cold, that brings about the reminder that we don't have to go it alone.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Currently in the mood for all things fall! I can't believe it's already here and almost gone so quickly - like, is there really Christmas stuff up this soon when I haven't even had my fill of fall yet?!

While the season is still in swing, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of things to do for fall since there's so many fun events and activities to do during this time!

1 - pumpkin patch photos

I've already done this at least twice this month. It's been a tradition for as long as I can remember to go to the pumpkin patch and pick out a tiny little pumpkin to take home with me. I love adding a mini photo session while I'm there! Although, as you can probably tell from the flip flops and glasses - I would never wear flip flops out unless I was just not feeling up to dressing nice or I was running out the door, in this case it was both haha - I wasn't really prepared for a shoot like this. But it was too cute to pass up, so I just went with it!

2 - campfire time

The smell of a campfire definitely comes neck and neck to pumpkin spice for the scent of fall. There's nothing like gathering around a warm fire, especially on a cool night - in which we haven't had quite yet here in Florida, fingers crossed it comes soon. Sip on apple cider or hot cocoa, toast marshmallows, someone playing the guitar and singing, and just have a good time outside.

3 - pumpkin arts & crafts

Okay, one thing about me - I have never actually carved a pumpkin before. Am I really missing out on something though? It just seems difficult, and growing up my family wasn't big on halloween. But recently, I have painted pumpkins, which I think is a pretty good alternative to carving one. It keeps the pumpkin nice on the inside and cute on the outside, without all the hard arm muscle required to carve the thing!

4 - corn maze

Another truth about me - corn mazes actually make me kinda nervous, haha. I'm not sure if I have ever done one, but everywhere I look there's a corn maze advertised so it seems like a fun thing to do! Just need someone with me who is good with direction, or else I'll probably end up stuck until someone comes to the rescue.

5 - pumpkin spice and everything nice

Does anyone else find baking fun? Not like I do it every day or anything, but I love to try a new recipe and make cute, tasty treats, especially with a theme like fall. I've just recently started making my own pumpkin spice lattes at home, just by adding half & half, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice to my coffee! I have also added pumpkin puree to pretty much everything sweet that I make, just to get that taste of fall in.

6 - fall festival

I absolutely love walking around a cute little festival, lit up with carnival lights, rides and yummy fair food! It's even more fun with good friends in the mix. Deep fried oreos are always so good to get at these festivals, but at the last one I discovered deep fried cookie dough and it is basically the best thing ever, aside from krispy kreme bacon cheeseburgers. Ok, someone stop me before I drool.

7 - road trip to see the leaves

If you're like me and don't live near the beautiful fall foliage up north, it's time for a road trip! Believe it or not, you don't really even have to drive far to get to cooler weather and better scenery, just a few hours max. So if anyone is up for a road trip, let's plan one stat!

8 - fall movie marathon

Am I the only one who is lowkey obsessed with Hallmark movies during the fall/winter months? No? Ok great haha. Even if you don't particularly share a fondness for those cheesy love stories, you probably have some halloween movie favorites that bring back nostalgic childhood feelings. They may even be on Netflix, so there's really no reason not to settle in for a cozy marathon night!

9 - fresh market & live music

Repeat after me: produce is good. Ok, now that you have that down, produce is even better from a market grown by local farmers! It's even better walking around a cute little market when there's live music. Just google markets near you, and you'll be sure to find some kind of event like this coming up.

10 - friend fall get-together

Fall consists of all of those warm cozy feelings, and so do friends! There's nothing better than getting together with those you love and sharing a night of laughter, food, and all of the things above with them. I'm planning one as I type, with pumpkin everything, a small bonfire, fall photo backdrop, and just a good time with good people.

🍂🍂🍂

Those are all of the things that I can think of off the top of my head. What is your favorite fall thing to do? If I have missed one, feel free to drop a comment below! I love hearing about fall traditions and finding new activities, including some of these that I haven't had a chance to do yet. Hope you have a happy fall! 🍁

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
